The Living Arrows – Bellingham, WA

BIO:

The Living Arrows is a folk-rock band from Bellingham, WA.

The Living Arrows create music that explores the human experience through song—deeply human, joyful,
thoughtful, and rooted in connection.

Centered around the reflective, finely honed lyricism of songwriter Traesti Luther, the band weaves a tapestry of vocal harmonies supported by guitar, cello, saxophone, bass, drums and dreamlike synthscapes. Drawing inspiration from artists like Simon & Garfunkel, Big Thief, Bon Iver, Bonnie Light Horseman, and The Beatles, The Living Arrows craft songs that feel both timeless and vividly present.

The project began in 2014 as an intimate folk duo and their acclaimed debut album Breaking the Spell emerged
that same year. Longtime collaborator Loren joined the following year, transforming the duo into a trio that
performed across the Pacific Northwest, as well as touring nationally and internationally.

Notable performances include the Iceland Airwaves Festival, Northwest Folklife Festival, Sofar Sounds (Reykjavik & Berlin), Subdued String Band Jamboree, and Sh’Bang Festival of Arts and Ideas.

The songwriting on their sophomore EP Set You Free (2015) and second full-length album Roots & Wings (2016) was praised for “resonating like the separate lines of a haiku: each a world unto themselves yet realizing a greater poetic dimensionality as a whole.” (What’s Up Magazine, 2016). The lineup expanded to the current six-piece ensemble in 2024 and released their most recent single, Baybe (You Cast a Charm on Me) in 2025 with plans for additional releases in 2026.

The Living Arrows is Traesti Luther (songwriter, vocals, guitar, keyboard), Alexandra Doumas (songwriter, vocals, guitar, alto saxophone), Loren Schaumberg (bass), Claire Furtwangler (cello), Jesse French (electric guitar, synths), and Melanie Sehman (drums).

Genre:

Folk / Rock in our 6-piece formation

Also booking as a trio (guitar, cello, sax) for more folky/serenade type shows.

The Living Arrows Celebrate With Festive, Groovy Alt-Folk

“Lilting harmonies combine with dreamy saxophone soundscapes to deliver a very uplifting form of folk pop that makes me very glad I finally managed to catch them.”

-Live Review from Iceland Airwaves 2016

While there is obvious lyrical talent and accomplished musicianship, what is most engaging is a sense of the unexpected joy that emerges out of The Living Arrows’ music…

This music is the soundtrack for the beauty of waking up on a Summer’s morning, of not wanting the night’s dreams to fade; the prelude to a perfect day.

-Scot Casey, From a review of our three-song ep, Set You Free, March 2016

“The band hopes their music will not only bring the community together but also open up a conversation about the hardships of today and yesterday in a compassionate manner. They want their music to move the audience through dance but also through the awakening of subconscious thoughts and feelings in response to the lyrics.”
