Hello dear friends and fans, near and far!
This is Alexandra, Traesti, and Loren. You might remember us as Breaking the Spell, a heartfelt folk-pop music project from the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for joining our e-mail list! We have a few announcements and some exciting news we would like to share with you… (Prizes for those who make it through to the end of this novel!)
First things first!
Those of you outside of Bellingham, WA and/or without Facebook may have missed the memo…We have undergone a name change!
Breaking the Spell was the perfectly fitting title for Traesti and Alexandra’s musical project as it began in Spring of 2014, with the recording of our first album. (Listen!) That title took us on incredible journeys around the world, and within ourselves.
This past summer, after much reflection and a multitude of inspiring synchronicities, we realized it was time to move on to our next chapter with a name change.
While Breaking the Spell symbolized new beginnings, everyday magic, and overcoming challenges internal and external, The Living Arrows has its own meaning that we hope to embody through our music and ways of life. We are really looking forward to embarking on this journey with you, and watching how everything unfolds.
Nextly!
We recently recorded a three-song ep entitled Set You Free. The release party for this lovely creation won’t be happening for awhile, but we want to share our new songs with YOU, as soon as possible…So, we will be posting it to our Bandcamp within the month, and you’ll be the first to know. So keep your ear out!
Which brings us to the next exciting thing… We are gearing up to begin recording our next full length album! We are very jazzed about this big adventure. We have welcomed a new full-time member to our live performances- a round of applause for Loren Schaumberg on electric guitar an bass! Hooray! (he’s the cheerful dude closest to you in the following photo)
We are, however, urgently seeking a drummer who could record with us, and also play live shows! Please respond to this email if you are a 21+ drummer or know someone who might be interested in this position!
Soooo:
We have two shows coming up this month before we take a wee hiatus during the recording process.
Friday, Feb. 19th – The Alternative Library – 7:30 pm – With Momo Grace
Saturday, Feb. 27th – Cafe Bouzingo – 8 pm – With Celestial Navigation
We hope to see you there, because it might be a little while til you have another chance to be serenaded!

The Living Arrows at The Bike House, February 12th 2016
If you’re out of town and want us sing you a song, this next bit of news is for you:
A fun little project we undertook last month was to record a video for the NPR Tiny Desk Contest. We performed our song, Be An Animal. Check it out here!
Last but not least, we’d like to thank all the folks who voted for us in What’s Up Magazine’s music awards- We were very stoked and honored to win in the “Axes of Folk (best songwriting)” category!
THAT’S ALL FOR NOW!
Thanks a million for all your support. We hope to see you very soon!
Love,
The Living Arrows
Traesti, Loren, and Alexandra
